Our Fuel & Water Bowsers Hire FAQs

To find out more about our fuel & water bowsers hire you can browse through our FAQs or you can also speak to one of the expert team at Chippindale Plant.

01 What is the bowser hire process?

Once you have decided on one of our bowsers, click on the “Enquire Now” button. A form will be shown on your screen which you are then able to fill out. Once you have done this and submitted your form, a member of the team will get in touch with you about the bowser hire process. Feel free to give us a call if you would rather go through the bowser hire process with a member of our team. You can also visit one of our depots to go through the hiring process.

Once you are in touch with one of our team, we will then discuss your project that requires one of our fuel or water bowsers. If you have already decided on the product from our bowser hire fleet, we can then go through the next stage. If you are unsure of which product you require, we can then assist you with this, finding the right bowser for your job. During this process, we will identify other plant machinery that you may require from our fleet. We have a range of dumpers, generators, tools and other machinery that you may require for your project.

When you are happy with the product(s) from our bowser hire fleet, we will then arrange the date for your water or fuel bowser to be delivered. We will also start the account set up process:

If you haven’t before, you’ll need to complete an account set-up form, along with providing evidence of your ‘hired-in plant insurance’. If you don’t have this, don’t worry, we can provide HireSecure for an additional 20% charge. Setting up your account will take 1-2 days, but if you want your fuel or water bowser hire to start sooner, we will do our best to arrange this,

You will then be appointed an account manager who will run over the final details of the hire, and will also be available throughout your hire to assist you with any queries or requirements.

On the arranged date, we will deliver your bowsers to site, then they will be set up by one of our trained engineers. We understand that jobs can run a little over so we don’t want to put you under any pressure, so you can keep our machinery for as long as you need and simply give us a call when you’re finished.

Throughout the hire period, we can send over ‘live-hire’ reports, along with other useful reporting and invoicing features, if they’d be useful for you.

When you’re finished with your fuel or water bowser hire, give us a call and we will collect the equipment. Charges won’t be made until we have received a debrief with whether you were happy with the hire process and the overall experience with us.

If you are unsure of which bowser is suitable for your project then we can help you decide which will be best for you during the enquiry process. We also offer a range of static bowsers from 2300 litres all the way up to 4300 litres. Get in touch with us about our bowser hire fleet and we can find the perfect equipment for you.

04 What is the fuel browser legislation and does it affect you?

As of May 2019, fuel bowsers were no longer classified as Intermediate Bulk Containers, also known as IBCs. This was put in place after the UK government reclassified it as flammable and combustible liquids. This means that all fuel bowsers must be classified as an IBC if it is being transported across public roads.

This means that each container must be 110% bunded during transportation. Our bowser hire fleet must be checked every 30 months, although we do this after the return of every bowser hire. They also must be internally inspected every five years to ensure the safety of our customers. Our fuel bowsers must all comply with having the UN packaging symbol and identifying the IBC code. Finally, they must be road-worthy, with each test being logged and documentation stored. We comply with the rules and regulations of our bowser hire fleet and ensure they are safe to use. These bowsers are also well-maintained when they are not in use, so they are always in perfect condition, ready to be used in the near future.
