Our Capital Sales division continues to grow rapidly, and we are now seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Capital Sales Manager to lead and expand this strategic business area.
Role Purpose
The Capital Sales Manager will spearhead the growth, performance, and profitability of Chippindale’s plant and equipment sales division. This senior leadership role carries responsibility for achieving a £10m plus annual capital sales turnover, building and managing a high-performing sales team, and strengthening relationships with key OEM partners and strategic customers.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute a high-impact sales strategy to achieve and exceed the £10m capital sales target.
- Forecast, manage, and report on sales pipeline, revenue performance, and market opportunities.
- Identify new business prospects, market segments, and growth channels.
- Oversee major tenders and negotiate high-value contracts with customers and suppliers.
Team & People Management
- Lead, motivate and develop a regionally focused Sales team.
- Set performance targets, KPIs, and development plans for direct reports.
- Foster a culture of accountability, commercial excellence, and customer focus.
Manufacturer & Partner Relations
- Act as the senior point of contact for OEM partners including Volvo, Bomag, Epiroc, Mecalac, Stihl, and Belle.
- Ensure dealer obligations and sales targets are met across all product lines.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturer reps to coordinate product launches, technical support, and joint marketing campaigns.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Manage pricing strategy, discount frameworks, margin control, and stock planning for capital equipment.
- Review commercial agreements to ensure profitability and compliance.
- Work with finance and operations to ensure efficient delivery, invoicing, and after-sales support.
Customer Engagement
- Build strong relationships with key accounts within construction, infrastructure, civil engineering, quarrying, and plant hire sectors.
- Provide senior-level support for customer negotiations, issue resolution, and long-term partnership development.
- Support marketing initiatives, trade shows, open days, and industry events.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven senior sales leadership experience within the construction plant, machinery, or heavy equipment industry.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable success delivering multi-million sales targets.
- Excellent knowledge of capital equipment from leading brands (ideally Volvo, Bomag, Mecalac, Epiroc, Stihl, Belle).
- Experienced negotiator with the confidence to close high-value deals.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, forecasting, and planning skills.
- Ability to build and inspire a high-performance sales team.
- Strong relationship-building skills with customers, OEMs, and suppliers.
Full UK driving licence.
